Shadows for piano and two violins by Obe Vermeulen

Young Belgian Talent - Vilmos Csikos

Shadows composed by Obe Vermeulen, performed by Vilmos Csikos (violin), Sarah Bayens (violin) and Aveline Gram (piano). It was recorded in the Academiezaal in Sint-Truiden, Belgium on the 13th. of September 2024.

The piece was commissioned by the not for profit organisation, YBT to celebrate our Platinum sponsor’s 20th anniversary (The Bayard Partnership). The composer dedicated the piece to our two brilliant violinists: Vilmos Csikos and Sarah Bayens.

The Project began back in 2023 when Harley had the idea to ask Obe to compose a concerto for two violins with equal voices, after listening to the Bach double violin concerto on his way home in the car. The result here, I am sure you will agree, is a stunning giant of a work, with an enormous range of colours and textures. In fact YBT is so happy with it, we have asked Obe to now re-work it for full symphonic orchestra.
