Young Belgian Talent - Felix Vermeirsch
Jebel Musa is a truly wonderful composition, written and performed by the extraordinary Felix Vermeirsch. This video was filmed at the end of a long CD recording session. We asked Felix to perform it one time for the video cameras, so the public can experience just a little of the intensity that he created that day in the little chapel in Fernelmont, Belgium. The video was recorded in just one take, with no trickery, sound editing or corrections. What you see, and hear’ is the result of fabulous ambient acoustics, a wonderful musical instrument and an inspired composer and performer. Enjoy!
This recording is part of a YBT project to discover great pieces of unknown Belgian composers and to have them recorded for a CD by outstandingly gifted young Belgian musicians. This project is produced by Greet Van ‘t veld from Klara, Belgium’s classical music radio station, for the Flemish speaking community. It is due for release in December 2020. See https://www.ybt.be
On this recording Felix is playing an Italian cello, which was made around 1930 by the master cello maker Gaetano Sgarabotto in Vicenza. www.felixvermeirsch.com
